The home of open-minded discussion and exploration of spiritual topics, moral issues and life's big questions. You'll find lots to talk about in their Discussion Lounge.
Trinity United Church’s vision for its future embraces the concept of consistent, faithful spiritual practices. While holding this aspect of the Church’s ongoing life with importance, the creation and support of small and larger groups, or individual practices, is an ongoing process.
If you have an idea or suggestion to enhance a spiritual practice experience for yourself or for anyone wishing to make their faith journey meaningful and relevant in today’s world, please feel welcome to contact the Church office at 250-545-0797, Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or email info@unitedchurchvernon.com. Contact us to find out how you can participate in our Spiritual Practice sessions.
Seed Groups
Seed groups are formed groups that meet weekly to study the scripture that will be used on the upcoming Sunday. One of the beneficial outcomes of being involved with a seed group is growing spiritual friendships that encourage spiritual growth in others. Presently there are two groups and it is anticipated that more will be formed in the upcoming Fall.
Walking the Labyrinth
Whether you have a set intention such as a prayer for guidance, a question requiring insight, to experience gratitude or calm your mind - walking the labyrinth offers opportunities to move to the heart of all matters. Everything that happens on the path is said to be a metaphor for the spiritual journey of life and so it is important to notice all your thoughts and feelings.
The labyrinth is available from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week.
Centering Prayer / Meditation
This group meets weekly for both intentional prayer and a time of meditation. This group offers the opportunity to meditate in a group setting and act as a support for an individual's private meditation. New participants are welcome.
Prayer Group
Meeting weekly to pray for anyone who has asked to be on the prayer list, this group also includes a time to read from the Psalms or Gospels. New participants are welcome.
Trinity Healing Room (Human Resources Core)
The Healing Ministry is an energy-based approach based on the tradition of laying-on of hands from ancient Christian practice. Healing means to become whole. All healing is basically self-healing. The practitioners facilitate and support the healing process. The hands are used to clear, energize and balance the human energy field, activating the mind/body/spirit connection and inducing deep relaxation.
When we are relaxed and in balance, our bodies are self-healing.
Energy-based Healing can help you to:
•
promote relaxation
•
reduce stress and anxiety
•
speed wound healing
•
boost the immune system
•
prepare and recover from surgical procedures
•
reduce pain associated with headaches, back and neck, cancer and/or arthritis support transition and/or spiritual development
The healing room is open once a week when practitioners are available for this ministry. Anyone wishing this service may make an appointment through the church office at 250-545-0797, Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or by email at info@unitedchurchvernon.com.
Musical Involvement
Music is a deeply entrenched spiritual practice at Trinity. It has been said that when we sing .. we unite as one body .. we listen for one another’s voice .. we raise our hearts and minds in praise.
